Cardinal soccer sees comeback fall short

Two early goals proved to be too much to overcome for the Ball State soccer team, as they battled back, but ultimately fell short at TCU, by a final score of 2-1.

The Horned Frogs broke the seal in the 10th minute on a goal from Emma Heckendorn, followed by an Allison Ganter goal just ten minutes later to put the TCU up by two.

It would not take long for the Cardinals to respond however, as Missouri transfer, Amanda Shaw netted her first goal in a Ball State uniform in the game’s 25th minute to cut the TCU lead to 2-1.

Despite the early scoring barrage from both teams, the game’s final 70 minutes featured tight defense from both squads and few scoring chances for either.

After allowing four TCU shots on net through the game’s first 20 minutes, Ball State allowed only four more throughout the game’s final 70 minutes. Ultimately Ball State out-shot TCU 10-8, with both teams landing five on net.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 1-3-1 on the season. They will now travel across Texas to take on another Big 12 opponent in Baylor on Sunday. Kickoff for Sunday’s match is set for 12:30 p.m. EST.
