Ball State gymnastics (6-10, 3-4 MAC) fell to Kent State (5-8, 3-3 MAC) Friday night by a score of 196.425-195.000. In the loss, the Cardinals managed to score a season high on the beam of 48.900.

The team's success on the beam was led by junior Baylee Bell, who placed second with a score of 9.900, a new personal best. Junior Jordyn Penny followed in sixth with a score of 9.825. Kent State, however, showed dominance in the Cardinals' strong event as well, scoring 0.350 points more than the Cardinals on the beam. Most of the Golden Flashes' success in the beam event came from a first place finish for Rachel Stypinski, with a score of 9.950, and a Kent State three-way tie for third, with a score of 9.850.

Kent State showed strength throughout the meet and took first in every event. The Golden Flashes also took the top five spots in the bars event before the Cardinals could place one. This meet also proved to be the Golden Flashes' strongest performance of the season. They finished with a new season-high score.

Senior Sarah Ebeyer had a strong night. She tied for second on the vault with a score of 9.775 and placed third on the floor with a score of 9.825.

The Cardinals will head to the Mid-American Conference Championships in Bowling Green to compete at 2 p.m. March 18.
